Project Description

Philanthropists, investors, and policymakers must always be aware of the opportunity cost of funds for development and seek to finance and support the most cost-effective initiatives amongst competing ideas to achieve a given social goal. Whether a particular program achieves its objectives in a verifiable and measurable way is a question that has an answer, one that must be pursued through impact evaluation. IPA and J-PAL are interested in building capacity in government, civil society and NGOs to be able to conduct evaluations in the medium run and hold accountable public social spending on programs by requesting they be evaluated.

The Policy and Training Program will provide training and technical assistance on impact evaluations to different institutions. The project coordinator will be responsible for building a network of researchers and building bridges between researchers/evaluators and policy makers. Likewise, he or she will write and circulate policy memos that inform decision-makers about the findings of other evaluations.

Through permanent training and policy dissemination to institutions, the purpose of the Incubator is to analyze a series of social programs and design concrete evaluation proposals on feasible and relevant programs. The Project Coordinator will be responsible of presenting a portfolio of potential experimental evaluations.
