The Council on Australia Latin America Relations (COALAR) provides funding support to competitively selected projects that seek to enhance Australia’s economic, political and social relations with Latin America.

COALAR is now accepting applications for projects from October 2011 to June 2012. Applications close on 30 May 2011.
Goals
COALAR provides funding for projects which further the goals of the Council:
- To enhance and strengthen links between Australia and Latin America, particularly in the areas of business, education, science, sport, sustainability, tourism and cultural promotion;
- To influence corporate Australia to initiate closer engagement with Latin America; and
- To increase awareness and understanding of Australia in Latin America, and of Latin America in Australia.
While it is envisaged that the majority of grants would be for proposals of $20,000 or over, the COALAR Board will also consider those proposals of lesser value that will generate a high profile and high value impact in the countries involved.
All applicants will be advised of the outcome of their application by September 2011.
