World Tourism Day (WTD), celebrated every year on 27 September, is a global observance to highlight tourism’s social, cultural, political and economic value.
WTD 2014 is being held under the theme Tourism and Community Development – focusing on the ability of tourism to empower people and provide them with skills to achieve change in their local communities.
Leading up to the official WTD celebrations in Guadalajara, Mexico, we want to hear from YOU. Let us know how you will be celebrating, send us your best photos on this year’s theme for the WTD Facebook album and join the #WTD2014 conversation on Twitter to share your thoughts and experiences with the global tourism community.

La Organización Mundial de Turismo tiene abierta la convocatoria para la competencia DMT: Turismo y Desarrollo Comunitario, cuyo objetivo principal es identificar blogs de Turismo y Desarrollo de la Comunidad desarrollados por viajeros. La fecha de cierre es el 15 de Agosto 2014.
El premio consiste de un viaje de ida y vuelta a Guadalajara, México, para visitar unos proyectos comunitarios vinculados al turismo, y asistir la celebración oficial del DMT el 27 de Septiembre de 2014 junto con representantes de la OMT y actores del turismo de todo el mundo. Se invita a participar a quienes hayan visitado una comunidad en la que las condiciones de vida mejoraron debido al turismo, o bien, la vida en su propia comunidad ha mejorado gracias al turismo.
Para participar, los solicitantes deben tener un blog activo, y ser mayores de 18 años. Se invita a participar a todas las nacionalidades. Los solicitantes deben publicar una entrada en su blog, de 500 palabras máximo, en inglés, francés, o español.
