The European Commission (EC) is a significant source of funding for NGOs worldwide. Its regular calls for proposals and other grant opportunities offer a substantial amount of funding resources for NGOs. These calls and opportunities seek to support projects and programs in a wide range of fields: Poverty reduction; sustainable development; promoting democracy; human rights; and more.

Despite this, many NGOs avoid applying for funding because of the complexity and highly competitive nature of the EC grant system. The funding guidelines can be difficult to understand, instructions are complicated, and the application form can be difficult to follow. But this should not deter NGOs from trying. With some time and effort, it is possible to understand the grant system and apply for EC grants successfully.

This entry-level webinar will help NGOs identify and apply to calls for European Commission development programs and external actions.

Who can Participate

This course is ideally suited to NGO staff around the world who want to learn more about applying for EC funding, executive directors/NGO managers who are responsible for donor relations, and, individuals who want to develop their professional skills and effectiveness.

This is an introductory level course focused on the over 10 billion Euros in annual EC development aid, that will provide participants with a solid basic overview. Fundraisers that already have some EC funding experience can use the course to brush up on their skills and confirm their assumptions.

Please note that the webinar covers EC development and cooperation programs and external actions only (EuropeAid). Other funding programs (e.g. FP7 and Europe focused grant funding) are not covered.

Methodology

The course will be delivered entirely through the internet. You only need to have a computer, high-speed internet connection and a headphone. Participants from any part of the world can attend it. If you miss the live webinar, you will have access to the webinar recording and the training materials.

The course will consist of a 60 minute presentation where you will see a presentation and hear the trainer, followed by a 30 minute Q&A session during which your questions will be answered by the trainer in real time.
