The Building and Social Housing Foundation (BSHF) invites nominations for the World Habitat Awards of £20,000 as part of its contribution to the United Nations International Year of Shelter for the Homeless.
The awards will be provided on the UN-Habitat Governing Council in April 2015.
Prizes: £10,000 each to two winning projects
Trophies
Travel and accommodation costs to attend the awards ceremony
Applications should be made for housing projects and approaches that
Demonstrate practical, innovative and sustainable solutions to current housing issues faced by countries all around the world
Can be transferred or adapted for use as appropriate
Are already being implemented or are completed i.e. not at design stage or very early stages of development
View the term habitat from a broad perspective and bring other benefits as well, such as energy or water saving, income generation, social inclusion, community and individual empowerment, health benefits, capacity building or education.

June 2015 – Notification of shortlisted projects
31 July 2015 – Deadline for further information from shortlisted projects
August 2015 – January 2016 – Evaluation of shortlisted projects
February 2016 – Announcement of the winners of the World Habitat Awards 2015/16
April 2015 – Presentation of the Awards at Habitat III
Eligibility Criteria
Entrant can be any individual, organization or government who has an innovative and practical solution to housing needs and problems from any country of the world.
An individual or organization can make more than one entry.
Entries should relate to housing projects and processes that are either completed or in progress. Those that are at design stage only or in the very early stages of development cannot be considered.
Previous entrants can re-submit in subsequent years providing that the project has been further developed in the intervening time period.
