What Are CFHI Scholarships? Child Family Health International (CFHI) offers partial scholarships for use towards CFHI program fees. Scholarships are currently available for the following program months only: January, February, March, April, May, June, August, September, October, November, December.  Recipients of scholarships are responsible for the remaining balance of CFHI program fees.  All recipients are responsible for their own airfare.CFHI is happy to announce it is currently offering partial scholarships for select 2014 program dates. These partial scholarships in the amount of US $500 to $1,000 may be awarded towards participation in any CFHI Global Health Education Program during the above months. One of these scholarships is designated for CFHI’s Sight for All- Opthalmology Rotation in New Delhi, India, one is designated for CFHI’s Dentistry & Oral Health in Quito, Ecuador, and one designated for an AMSA Member. CFHI has also partnered withAMWA to provide one member per year with a $500 scholarship towards any CFHI program.  Who Can Apply?CFHI is committed to working globally and addressing inequities. In line with this global lens, it is the policy of CFHI to actively seek a diverse pool of candidates from a variety of backgrounds who are committed to the mission and vision of CFHI. Scholarships will be given to students who demonstrate a commitment to their communities as well as financial need and an interest in exchanging ideas and sharing experiences with people in Bolivia, Ecuador, Mexico, Argentina, India, South Africa and Uganda.  Priority will be given to people of ethnicities under-represented in CFHI programs, as well as those who have had limited opportunity to travel abroad.   All interested in attending a CFHI program during the specified program months/year and who are financially able to pay the remaining program fees along with their own airfare are encouraged to apply.  Preference will be given to those who apply for scholarship consideration as well as submit an application to a CFHI program online.  Scholarship applicants wishing to attend any CFHI program in Latin America (Mexico, Bolivia, Ecuador, and Argentina) must meet the language eligibility requirements listed for that program.

Scholarship Recipient Requirements:

Recipients of CFHI scholarships will be required to pay their own airfare, the balance of their CFHI program fees, and any personal expenses as outlined on the program description pages. Recipients must keep a clinical and cultural immersion journal to be used as part of their scholarship report submitted at the end of their program. They must take photographs while abroad that may be used on the CFHI website and in CFHI publications and materials.

Recipients may also be required to write an article about their experience for CFHI newsletters or other publications. They must also be willing to report their perspective on diversity in the host country with particular focus in medical and social contexts. CFHI will ask recipients to act as Campus Representatives or Alumni Ambassadors for prospective CFHI participants, and may be asked to attend study abroad fairs in their local area.

Child Family Health International (CFHI) tiene abierta la convocatoria para sus becas periódicas, cuyo objetivo principal es la participación en un Programa de Educación para la Salud Global CFHI. La próxima fecha de cierre es el 12 de noviembre de 2014.

El proyecto comprende una asignación de 500 a 1,000 dólares estadounidenses, en concepto de participación de cualquier Programa de Educación Global para la Salud de CFHI. (El monto no cubre el saldo restante de los honorarios del Programa CFHI, como así tampoco el boleto de avión). Las becas son designadas en Argentina, Bolivia, Ecuador, México, Sudáfrica o Uganda.

Para ser admitidos, los solicitantes deberán reunir los siguientes requisitos: demostrar un compromiso con sus comunidades, así como la necesidad económica y un interés en el intercambio de ideas y compartir experiencias con la gente en Bolivia, Ecuador, México, Argentina, India, Sudáfrica y Uganda. CFHI busca un grupo diverso de candidatos que estén comprometidos con la misión y visión de la CFHI. Se priorizarán aquellas personas de grupos étnicos subrepresentados en los programas de la CFHI, así como los que han tenido pocas oportunidades para viajar al extranjero. A su vez los solicitantes que deseen asistir en América Latina (México, Bolivia, Ecuador y Argentina) deben hablar castellano. Los beneficiarios deben escribir su experiencia clínica y cultural, que se utilizará como parte de su informe de becas presentadas al final de su programa. Deben tomar fotografías, que pueden utilizarse en el sitio web de CFHI y en publicaciones y materiales de CFHI. Es necesario que estén dispuestos a informar de su perspectiva sobre la diversidad en el país de recepción con especial atención en los contextos médicos y sociales.
