Innovate UK’s IC tomorrow invites proposals for its connected cities innovation contest. This competition encourages innovation around the changing urban landscape across the themes of digitally connected buildings, communities, environment and services. Proposals with innovative ideas relevant to connected cities that will meet the future needs of the urban environment are welcomed. Proposals may address the following challenges:
•digital in-home display in partnership with EDF Energy;
•community data sharing in partnership with Intel;
•empowering communities to manage their energy in partnership with Siemens;
•urban sanitation in partnership with Kimberly Clark;
•helping urban service providers respond to citizens’ needs in partnership with Amey;
•using data to encourage independent living in partnership with Ordnance Survey and Hampshire Hub.
Start-up businesses and SMEs based in the UK or EU are eligible to apply. Successful applicants are expected to trial their proposed solutions with their industry partners for at least three months.
