Call: NIHR call on major trauma under its efficacy and mechanism evaluation programme

The Department of Health’s National Institute for Health Research invites applications for its call for proposals on major trauma under its efficacy and mechanism evaluation programme. This supports research into the efficacy of interventions for the diagnosis and management of complex injuries following major trauma. Particular interest is given to proposals on therapeutic interventions targeted at managing the systemic physiological and haematological responses to injury. Proposals may include the early assessment, immediate management of use of intervention within the first 72 hours of the major trauma. The inclusion of embedded mechanistic studies within the main clinical evaluation is strongly encouraged. Stand-alone applications into the underlying mechanisms of action of clinical interventions will only be considered when the proposed study utilises patients or samples from current or completed clinical studies. Applications may investigate novel or repurposed interventions and technologies.
